Even with a recession upon us, Essex is one county where the casualties of the dwindling economy will be minimal compared with other regions in the UK. Of course for many the onset of a recession will bring the threat of redundancy as businesses tighten their belts, weathering the storm until rays of a sunnier financial climate finally start to shine through.

The overall forecast for jobs in Essex to pick up over the next 18 months is quite bright, when we consider the qualities of Essex as a county; we have thriving ports, both in Felixstowe and Harwich being two of the larger container ports in the country, Stansted airport, fantastic commuter links, and areas such as Colchester and Chelmsford set to grow over the next 10 years to accommodate the growing population, things are looking rosy in the long run.

However, whilst the recession is upon us jobs in Essex will be harder to come by, especially within industries which have already ground to a Holt, such as the construction industry which usually provides a large percentage of jobs in Essex. The crash of the housing market as with all regions has taken its toll, construction of new homes has been put on hold, and new homes lie empty, this too has a knock on effect to all supporting industries.

If unfortunately you find yourself in the position of searching for new jobs in Essex, you might want to consider joining an Essex recruitment agency. A recruitment agency will provide a more comprehensive resource to find a wider spectrum of vacancies available suited to your skills or profession.
Job hunting is hard at the best of times, but in the grip of a recession comes more competition for job vacancies. The more recruitment agencies you sign up with the wider the possibilities. Generally recruitment agencies will have a diverse client base covering all industry sectors, of which they source perspective candidates for; additionally they will advertise both permanent and temporary positions.

Remember to still cover the traditional methods to find jobs in Essex, sign on with the local job centre, write direct to companies, include an up to date CV and advertise your skills.

Although the employment picture is quite murky at present, the financial and economic situation will not last forever. In fact the economic situation could start to see slight improvement by 2011 just in time for the Olympics. The potential for jobs in Essex to increase in the run up to the 2012 Olympics brings hope to the region. Airports will see an increase in visitors during this period, an increase in building work to accommodate such a big event will almost certainly bring about new opportunities.

Despite looking at the long term picture the events of the recent credit crunch are affecting us now, people are facing job cuts, and it is safe to say that the current situation is bleak for struggling working class individuals, trying to pay the mortgage, rent and afford the present price of living.

The situation for students graduating from university means that they won't necessarily walk into a job of which they have just spent years training to do. Many students will ultimately seek work in the city working on the basis that there will be more opportunities. Realistically they will face the same level of competition as they would if they pursuing jobs in Essex.

There is never a solution to unemployment in times of economic crisis, however being pro active in your search for jobs in Essex, London, where ever, using recruitment agencies and consultants as well as the many other resources available, will certainly improve your chances of finding something.
