When it comes time for you to get web hosting its important that you pick a quality website that you can really count on, not only for support but for price and for efficiency. A few years back I joined up with a web hosting company and because they were constantly having "outages" it was in turn leading my websites to be "down" all the time.
Why pay for an account that you cant even use? usually a website will let you know about their up time so you could look for something like this. Some web hosting programs are better than others so its a good idea to shop around! When joining up with a website (of any sort) I always find its important to look for reviews.
These reviews are coming from people that have had real experience with the website at hand so you can usually count on them to be honest and forthright when it comes to the opinions and views of these people. Some things you might want to be paying attention to on the actual hosting site are the packages and the benefits and prices of these packages.
Remember the higher the package the more expensive it will get, but you should also be getting a lot more options or "upgrades". For instance if you take a look at a few websites online you will see that they usually have anywhere from 4-8 packages. These packages might starts at around $4 and might lead up to $40 but with each package the increments for bandwidth, user email space and options will heighten with each upgrade.
Its also important to realize that just because there are $40 packages available doesn't mean you need one. Maybe your the type of guy or girl that likes to go all out and get the big guns out, but this isn't necessarily needed when it comes to packaging. Get what you need or think you might need and if in the future you have to upgrade, awesome. You are allowed to upgrade whenever you want to to whatever package you want to.
So say that you are starting out doing a little affiliate marketing or Internet marketing online and you know that you need a blog for your articles. This might be a good time for you to start out using the littlest package for now. Then once you start receiving more visitors and start having more pages of content you can be sure to upgrade to the next package.
Lastly you might want to take a look at the "type" of packages they allow. I often find that Linux is way more popular than that of Windows and a lot of the web designers and programs out there are compatible with Linux (Unix) and not Windows. So its important that the website you go with either has an option for both or just the Linux!
