Russell Peters was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1970, to parents Eric and Maureen. Eric was from Mumbai and Maureen grew up in Kolkata, India. Peters first began performing in Toronto in 1989, since then he has performed in the UK, Australia, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Denmark, South Africa, The Caribbean, Vietnam; and of course India, Canada and the United States, to name only a few. In Canada he has become known as the first comedian to sell out at Toronto's Air Canada Centre.

This comedian has won acclaim for himself as a great guy for laughs throughout the world. His brand of comedy is unique, because it focuses on interactions between races. Indian and Chinese, Indian and Jamaican, Indian and African and the list will continue to go on. The appeal in his mixture of mainstream and ethnic comedy is in the fact that he relates to people of all walks of life, and he earns the love of thousands without staying on the safe side of the humor industry. He explores and explodes major ethnic stereotypes, pointing out the humor that is a necessary presence in every culture. He covers issues from body hair on men to accents from different countries.

Peters has appeared as an actor in several movies including My Baby's Daddy, Tiger Claws III, and The Take. He will soon be appearing in three films The Legend of Awesomest Maximus, Bobby Khan's Ticket To Hollywood, and Yellow Fever. During his career he has also appeared on television in "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "The Hour," "Comics Unleashed," and more. He has become one of the most accessible voices of the comedy stage, branching out across all cultural backgrounds and beliefs. His videos on YouTube.com have been viewed by over 20 million people, and his website gets over 10,000 hits a day.

Not just keeping his feet firmly on dry land, Peters has also completed two USO tours for troops on deployment. He has performed on the USS Eisenhower as well as in Iraq, Afghanistan, Djibouti, and Greenland. He also performed as a part of a special Thanksgiving tour for the troops in 2007. He is of Anglo-Indian heritage, and uses his experience and background to bring some of the most culturally diverse and entertaining lines to the comedic stage. This year Russell Peters tickets are coming available for his 20th Anniversary Tour, which is taking place later this year.
