Well it would seem this is definitely it! Electronics manufacturers have been embroiled in an all out war over the latest technological debate - plasma versus LCD TV's. Here, in an online exclusive just for your information are the results of the war, the findings of the debate and the conclusion of all the advertising, marketing and campaigning for one to beat the other in a showdown of unprecedented proportions:

They're pretty much both the same.

Of course, I could leave it there but then I wouldn't have an article, just a paragraph. However, there is your answer to the sixty four thousand dollar question, or to be more precise, the 800 pounds question, for that is the average price of both the plasma and LCD TV. Buy either and you will get a fantastic quality of picture, you will get clarity of sound matched by both parties and you will get it all at a very competitive price.

For those still looking to argue the case, all you have is the fact that LCD TV's use less energy, thus conforming to the ever interfering European Union directives. Of course, this is a temporary issue as plasma's are in the process of change to allow for this legislation. So, before long, we will be back here again.

I guess at the end of the day much will depend on your personal preference in purely aesthetic arenas (not that easy to say!) and whether or not you feel a loyalty to a particular company.

Of course, you could make your decision based on ethics if you were stuck for a reason to debate your TV choice around the social gathering of the moment. You could argue that companies such as Bravia have always maintained their integrity to the environment and never ventured down the money grabbing path of gas guzzling plasma's out of obligation to the near extinct breeds from the Poles.

You could say that Bravia have stuck to their guns throughout the debate preferring to forgo sales when less eco-friendly people defected to the plasma side of the fence and they have quietly sat back secure in the knowledge that their ecological awareness would win through.

You could also argue with those on the plasma team that yeah, the TV's are huge, yeah they're lovely and clear and yeah, they're cheap but at what price?
Pushing our gazillions of atmosphere destroying 'stuff' and hogging all the electricity is not green, it's not ethical and it's not right. But it does make them a lot of money. So we get to see our favourite soaps in super size - what are we all? American? Everything has to be big at the expense of right?

No! Now is the time to stand up and be counted. Shun the use of massive Panasonic ozone destroying plasma and opt for a serene and pleasant and very, very green Bravia LCD TV. This is not a sales pitch - these two companies are purely examples of the directions we should be looking depending on what we want from our at home entertainment. LG, Hitachi and Bang and Olufsen also make plasma and LCD TV's so take your liberty and shop to your hearts content, making the right choice for you, your family and the children of the future.
