Holidays always seem to be a source of disagreement, unless you know exactly which kind of holiday you are searching for. It's easy to decide where to go if you are set on an activity holiday such as skiing or water sports as these kind of holidays tend to be dictated by the activity you wish to pursue, but trying to find a location that suits everyone's tastes if you are looking to simply relax and take a break from the normal is a much harder task.

Most people want to head for the sun for its relaxing and refuelling qualities, there is nothing like recharging your batteries after a dull, wet winter in England, the only problem with this is that most of the British population tend to look for the same thing, flights and accommodation prices soar as the season peaks and fighting for a sun lounger by the pool or a space on a crowded beach takes the shine off your holiday.

Many people overlook a holiday which doesn't include a beach, sunny destinations tend to go hand in hand with beach holidays and so leave people playing a gambling game as to what their destination will bring. However there are many European destinations which don't have a beach in sight, what they do have is scenery, sun and culture! A prime example of this might be holidays in Tuscany. Tuscany is a quiet region of Italy. Most people have heard of Tuscany but because it little advertised as prime holiday destination it is widely overlooked and greatly under estimated.

Holidays in Tuscany provide much more than a week lounging on a beach, you can still enjoy lounging by the pool if that takes your fancy in most country hotel locations, but you will be enjoying the views of rolling hills, vineyards, olive groves or fields of sunflowers rather than settling for a panoramic view of people in bathing suits.

Tuscany is as a region presents you with outstanding beauty, hiding many places of interest in its countryside, Tuscany is well known for its wines and fresh foods, but little do people know about its history which can be widely seen in its many medieval hilltop towns.

Booking accommodation for your holidays in Tuscany provides a widely varied choice; there are many self catering options similar to those you would expect in a seaside resort in Spain, such as villas and apartments, there are stone cottages and farmhouses a plenty, but one of Tuscany's best treasures are the many family run country hotels which are located amidst the vineyards in the more rural locations.

These mysterious and well hidden gems set the atmosphere for the whole holiday, and if you are looking for something just that little bit different this is definitely what you will receive. Many of these little family run hotels will still farm the land which surrounds them, providing another income, with this activities such as harvesting crops or sampling produce can be enjoyed, participating in these activities is great for gaining a holiday experience which is little offered anywhere else, I can hardly think of anything nicer than sitting back at the end of the day sampling a small glass or two of the wine which is grown around you.

Holidays in Tuscany don't have to limit you to staying close to your accommodation, incorporating a weekend city break can make your holiday even more special, Italy is host to the art cities of Florence, Pisa, Siena.

It is no wonder that some of the most impressive art of the renaissance period was inspired by the beautiful scenery that the Tuscan countryside exudes.
