Are you searching for ways out of a bad financial situation? Maybe you are just making ends meet, month after month. Or perhaps it's a little bit more serious than that, and you're falling behind and missing monthly payments. Maybe you are beginning to get nasty phone calls at inconvenient times.

With your credit rating in the toilet, you have begun to realize that you need help. Thankfully there are legitimate ways to get a leg up. There are debt management companies who can negotiate more palatable interest rates, and get late frees and punishing penalties reduced.

If your situation is a bit more dire, then mercifully there is bankruptcy, which might be a frightening prospect to some people. However, the truth about bankruptcy is that it can give you and your family relief and the chance to start over again.

Perhaps you think that a loan from your bank might solve your problems. But banks are not lending. The recent credit crunch has really hit hard and small loans have almost completely dried up.

No matter how over extended and distraught you are please remember not to fall prey to something called an advance fee loan.

Perhaps you have been searching the internet and have happened on to a site that promises guaranteed instant loans. How enticing! What a huge temptation this is to struggling students, seniors, the unemployed, or folks simply in need of money to get themselves out of a pinch.

The website might look legitimate. Or it could be nothing more than a scam. Look at little closer and you may find that there is a catch to the instant money that you desire. What's this? An upfront payment is required to secure the loan? That my friend, is illegal, and you should push back your chair and turn off the computer.

Had you pursued this type of loan, this is what would have happened. After many official looking forms had been passed back and forth for signatures and whatever, you'd be instructed to send security money by Western Union or whatever. A few days would pass before you'd realize that your loan money was never coming. Then, to your horror, you'd realize that they have your name, phone number, bank account, and social security number. What next, identity theft?

Or you might get a call from a telemarketer, also promoting advance free loans, who just happens to have your name on a list. Your less than stellar credit rating, and the fact that you have recently been turned down for a loan, have made you an easy target.

No one ever gets their money from these fraud artists. So to avoid getting taken in, simply hang up the phone if someone offers to repair your credit, or give you a loan. If you are told that you'll get the money, no problem, before you even apply, we very wary. Never hand over a "security deposit" in the hope that your loan is in the bag.

Instead seek out the services of legitimate, reputable companies, run by good and honest folks who have your best interest at heart. They will be able to help you decide the best way to solve your own personal credit crisis.
