A highly-advanced and technology-intensive mechanized road flushing vehicle is keeping the streets, roads, parks, public places, waterways, and the great Lake Ontario of the Greater Toronto Area in tip-top shape and pristine order. These mechanized road flushing vehicles are bulky and very powerful machines that contain various computerized attachments to make sweeping and cleaning of the GTA environment easily and effectively.

Road flushing vehicles are powered by large and fuel-efficient yet very strong powerhouses so that they can have a clean sweep of an area in the least amount of time and with minimal fuel expenditure. This is a very important feature of these machines because these are public machines, run by the local government, and funded by the taxes paid by the culturally diverse population of the metropolis. It should be noted that the metropolis is home to about 140 different languages and dialects - from the native Canadian aboriginal peoples to Italians, French, Chinese, Punjabis, Filipinos, Spanish, and Portuguese - making it one of the world's most culturally diverse metropolitan areas.

The broom and sweeper attachment to these bulky road flushing machines perform the physical removal of visible waste matter and or debris, such as strewn paper, felled leaves and twigs, plastic wrappers and candy wraps, among others, before these find their way into side streets where they can, partially or completely, block street drainage systems. When this occurs, it is likely that local flooding may develop and put at risk the different properties of the city's constituents.

These mechanical sweepers and cleaners are equipped with tanks of cleaning and disinfectant solutions to treat and render the waste matter harmless as they are removed from the surface of the roads and other areas. These solutions are sprayed in minute amounts as the machine's scrubbers and broom attachments rotate at very high speeds to effectively remove the debris and keep the area clean.

Road flushing is then completed by the vacuum attachment in the vehicle by applying very powerful suction to remove even microscopic particles that are emitted from the more than 400,000 vehicles that traverse the more than five thousand kilometers of roads and highways in the area. These microscopic substances and particles are rendered harmless by the combined power of the vacuum machine and the different chemicals contained in a vehicle compartment that serves as a containment chamber as well as chemical disintegration and disinfection.

These waste matter - both the visible and the microscopic - are then chemically treated at a Toronto waste management facility so that both the waste matter and the chemicals which were used to initially render them harmless are effectively managed. Doing so ensures the preservation and or conservation of the area's vast natural resources, especially the waters of the great Lake Ontario, by avoiding spillage into these resources.

Road flushing technology, however, comes at a stiff price that other governments may not be able to afford, at all, despite efforts to raise the much-needed capital to purchase such technologies. Majority of these countries have to resort to manual labor cleaning of their city streets and public places just so they can keep up with the increasing demands for an environmentally-sound state-of-affairs. However, in those governments that have the means, the inclusion of these amazing road flushing mechanical wonders is translated into best management practice categories and environmental protection and preservation.
