Can you use a free autoresponder? You might be thinking in that direction if you have been out looking around the internet for a good yet reasonably priced autoresponder. You may be just starting out and not want to put money into that end of things for now.
Using free autoresponders is acceptable in a few situations; however the old adage, "You get what you pay for" rings true for this also. If it is a choice between no autoresponder and using free autoresponders, you should use the free autoresponder, as it is better than nothing!
The first option available to you should be using free autoresponders that come with your webhosting accounts.A webhost is where your domain is.You can simply go into your webhosting account through the control panel and set up your autoresponder series there. Your own account autoresponder will not have advertising come up when you send out a message. Now you may not have a webhosting account, and so do not have the option of using its autoresponder,or maybe your webhost does not offer autoresponding. If that is the case, then do not worry, there are other places to go.
Go to Google or Yahoo or use any search engine that you like.Type in free autoresponder or using free autoresponders and you will get a list of companies that offer this service. The services are offered free because the company can make their money from the advertising blurbs that send out with the messages. Depending on the company you use, the little ad they attach will be either on the top or bottom of the message, each an every time you send out one.
At first it may seem to you that getting small ads on your outgoing messages would not be a problem. However, if these small ads that are attached to each and every message that you want your potential client to receive have advertising blurbs that compete with what you are selling, then you might not want this. Even if the product does not directly compete with you, your potential clients might not appreciate the ad or think it unprofessional.
Some of the autoresponders that you have to pay for may offer a free service with limited use. It is wise to look into these also. The free version of an autoresponder may or may not add to your messages advertisements, so it is good to ask that up front if it is a concern of yours.
The lighter or free version of an autoresponder that others pay for, generally do not include some of the more powerful options of the paid versions. But if at this time you do not need those advanced options or can not afford it, then this is a viable option.
Free autoresponders will normally limit the number of subscribers you can add to your account. If you are just starting out this is not such a bad thing, for when you get to the limit you just upgrade to the paid version and all your information is transferred. Looking at it from a purely business sense, this does not seem such a bad thing. It lets you build your list; make a profit before you have to expend more money.
Your business is your business and thus it is only you that can decide what you need and when. It may seem overwhelming at first to make all these decisions but take a deep breath and think of your plans and goals. If you have no list or it is very small, then a free autoresponder should do every thing that you need it to. It is when your list grows that you will need to consider upgrading. You own your business and only
you can decide, paid or free?
