Table lamp is a very common household object and at first glance it does not seem out of the ordinary and can do only one thing. Give off light when needed. They are always found either in the living room, in the library of the house and normally at the side of the bed. But if you use your imagination and open your mind you can think of quite a few things to do it aside from just shining in the dark. Here are some ways to show that it is used uniquely.

One way is that when you have a friend who lives next door or at the house at the opposite side of yours, you can use the table lamp to show Morse code so you can talk with each other. This is a very discreet and cool way in using a lamp and you learn and have fun at the same time.

Another way is during wild parties. You have probably seen this in teen movies where there is a huge party going on and everyone is so drunk that they do not know what they are doing. Look around and you will see someone either drunk enough or creative enough to use a lampshade as a hat. I do not know whether this is to get attention or if he is just going it out of stupidity.

Some use it to set the mood for a romantic night. How you ask? Well by changing the design on the lamp shade and changing the color of the light bulb this can help elevate your chances in making that special someone fall for you or you might even get lucky, if you know what I mean.

Now the normal table lamp has just one shape and has one definite color to it, but if you look around there are other lamps with different designs. One of the most popular lamps is the lava lamp used during the 70s. The have gooey things floating in side a vase shaped container filled with water. It floats around in there and has unique colors complementing the floating goo. It has the tendency to hypnotize those that look at it. Other lamps have the design shaped liked a body of a person. This is found mostly in motels with romantic suite. I guess it blends with the surrounding and is quite interesting if you want something that stands out from the ordinary.

Nowadays the lamps have a more metallic color and look like robots. There are even those that can change color without changing the light bulb. I guess this colors means emotion. The more popular ones are those that do not have a switch. It is more like when there is a clapping sound it responds by turning on.

There are now lamps that have been combined with figurines so to look more elegant and pretty when place inside the house. This is good but quite expensive.

Though we tend to be picky in choosing a lamp we never notice that it has slowly become part of our house, our routine and our life. We do not notice that the longer the lamp has been with us or someone close to use it gains sentimental values and is quote hard to let go. The table lamp just sits there, not moving but is always ready to help.
