7 Search Accessory Ads - An alternative to AdSense?

By: Doc

In a nutshell, Accessory Ads from 7 Search are a very poor mans AdSense.
Why on earth the guys at 7 search have not realised the potential they are holding, heaven knows.
With a content sensitive ad system that is the only true alternative to the mighty Google on the block. Yet, there the 7 search team sit in yesterday. Serving very limited agressive content to any publisher silly enough to try them.
Let me first address the missed opportunity for 7 search accessory ads, then the agressive content element.

The 7 search accessory ads works very similar to Googles AdSense and emulates both in code and method in the way ads are fetched and served on participating web site publishers.
Exchanging 7 search accessory ads with AdSense across a site is relatively easy as both follow the same format and allow customisation to fit in with page design. Its just a simple 'find and replace' operation for your favourite editor.

No matter which format or size the AdSense is available in, the exact match is available with the 7 search accessory ads system. Which possibly really 'ticks off' the mighty G. Or would do if 7 Search were to get serious.

I have test driven most of the PPC and affiliate deals available out there over the many years of running quite a sizeable portfolio of sites.
The 7 search system could be it! It is a mini AdSense and could be as big as. If only........

So why is not the 7 search accessory ads a major competitor? Why is 7 search not searching a sizeable chunk of Uncle G's 10 billion $'s plus AdSense market?

There comes the sad part. A king sat on a throne of gold, merrily playing around with cow droppings. That's where I would put them right now.
Its the advertisers and publishers they attract. 7 Search occupy a rather niche market in the huge 'XXX' and none mainstream type sites, They will put Accessory Ads on adult and gambling related sites, unlike Google.
However their poor performance and pay outs on PPC would cause most serious webmaster in that industry to just laugh at 7 search's proposition. A few cents per click? IF its verified by their extremely sensitive filters?
When you can make dollars per visitor in this agressive industry.
Then of course there's the all those gambling related pages and nasty pop ups, that 7 Search Accessory ads serves up to an un-expecting publishers website. Complete with non extinguishable pop up's and persistent cookies, downloads and god knows what else. Containing get rich quick propositions and pages of hyper blurb. Unlike AdSense, 7 Search Accessory Ads tolerate the type of aggressive advertiser techniques utilised by sites in such sectors.

We tried them out on a couple of sites for a proper comparison demo against a successful AdSense campaign already running on the sites. It was a rather wasted and costly exercise, but the only way to thoroughly test and compare Accessory Ads. With AdSense we averaged around 4.8% click through rate on around 23 cents per click across one of the carefully chosen sites, and 3.8% at 19 cents on the other. We also run affiliate advertising on the same sites and know from years of experience with these two sites the conversion ration on advert clicks is quite good.

7 Search accessory ads netted an appalling .09% at an average 8 cents. The range of advertiser offerings being primarily centred around loans, gambling and the like, leaving little of interest for the site visitors to bother clicking on. Whereas the vast advertiser base of AdSense can serve dozens of different advertisers and services for virtually any page content.

All this is fine if you have lost your AdSense account or in the gambling, adult or get rich quick industry. But 7 Search could be so much more. It is unique in being about the only directly replaceable AdSense PPC in the market. Including Yahoo and similar offerings.

So what are they doing wrong at 7 search accessory ads?
Well first, they should fully realise what they have. Then some radical changes in their method operandum of attracting advertisers, coupled with the opening of Accessory ads to the wider market. If they don't make millions out of being a true AdSense competitor, they will make billions from a big G take over.
7 Search Accessory ads are the only alternative to AdSense presently in the market place and I cant see big Uncle G sitting back and letting them get too professional.
At the moment though 7 Search is still groping about with muck at the bottom of the well, blind to the wonderful ladder of technology application they created, that leads straight up to the light and right up Uncle G's rear.

Personally, I would love to see a real time alternative to Uncle G's AdSense. We need the competition to shake up a certain amount of rich complacency. If 7 Search don't take this market, then its a huge loss to their owners The present 7 Search Accessory ads need a complete makeover with a radical re-thinking of marketing strategy. They could be so Big. Mind you, maybe they feel they are big enough. Ahh, sad.
