The Quest For Luxury

By: Julian Croft

Wherever you are, whoever you are, the one thing that all people of all times have in common is the hedonistic desire for pleasure. While pleasure itself comes in many forms, the one thing that people can agee on is that luxurious and comfortable surroundings make your life more enjoyable.

The desire for luxury is hardly unusual, and almost everyone makes at least some attempt to pursue it. The most blatant, of course, is to try to fill your home with luxurious items, or even to try to move to a better apartment or house as soon as you can afford it. However, to acquire the level of luxury you desire can be both time consuming and expensive.

You may be tempted to just buy things on impulse, but this is usually a bad idea. Not only are you likely to regret your purchase later, but a string of high-value buys will really strain your bank account.... and credit cards. Bearing this in mind, it is usually much better to spend at least some of your time looking for what you want, so that you can make absolutely sure that when you do buy it, you're buying the right thing.

With this in mind, you may want to take short time to note down exactly what you are looking for. Your ideal apartment or house, your car, what you want to do with your time... Then, once you know everything that you want, you can go out and find it all.

Take a look in your nearby luxury goods stores, and see what they have available. You might get some good ideas, or failing that, discover more details about what it is you want. "Luxury car" is very imprecise, you should really know the precise brand. Plus, a look in stores will familiarize you with the approximate prices, so that you can spot a bargain when you see it.

Once you've found what you are looking for, or even to give you some more ideas, the internet is an excellent resource. http://luxury-directory.com/ is one of the best, providing links to hundreds of sites for every possible luxury resource from jewellery to horses, houses to tailoring.

Once you see what you want, you can even buy it over the internet. Most businesses nowadays have the option to buy online, and will also deliver- saving you the trouble of arranging for delivery yourself. If you keep focused on your list, you'll find it surprisingly easy to get everything you want. You might even reach your luxurious standard in only a year or two.

That's right. What you may not realise, is that you spend tens, hundreds, even thousands of dollars each year on various short-term pleausures, that you really don't need. For example, a night on the town could easily cost you a hundred dollars. If you spent that money on something else instead, something long term, you could be building up your collection of luxuries.

Which would you really rather have, a beautiful home for a lifetime or fun for a year? Remember, once you have all the luxuries you want, you can then go back to your old spending habits... although you may well not want to. So, make a list of what you want, then go out and get it!
