Are Two Antivirus Programs Better Than One? Dear Computer Lady,
Since I already have Norton Anti-virus working on my Windows 98 Dell computer, would it be wise for me to install AVG version 7 also or would that conflict with Norton?
I'm confused. Please advise. I look forward to your newsletters and have learned a lot from them. Thank you for your work.

Dear Sue,
It is not a good idea to run two antivirus programs at the same time. The two programs will sometimes work against each other. This can result in your computer crashing or locking up, and in the conflict viruses can sometimes slip through.
If your Norton updates are paid for, and you are keeping it updated, then you just need to choose which program to use.
If your Norton is outdated
and you are not getting daily updates, then you need to either buy a new subscription to Norton, or uninstall Norton and get another program.
To un-install your current antivirus program, click on "Start" and then click on "Control Panel".
In the control panel window, double click on "Add/Remove Programs" and then find the listing for your antivirus. Click once on the antivirus, then click the "Remove" button.
Re-boot your computer before you install another antivirus.
If you choose to install AVG Antivirus, head on over to http://tinyurl.com/87zj4 and download then install the program. There is a free version of AVG that does not include tech support, and a paid version that costs only $38.95 for two years.
